1. Flash Firmware

Full

Wi-Fi access point with the web UI. Also controlled by serial and mesh.

Headless

No access point. Controlled by serial and mesh commands.

2. Write Down Your Erase Key

Do this right after flashing, with the node still plugged in.

Press Show my erase key.
Pick the same port you flashed.
Wait up to a minute while the node restarts.
Write the key down and keep it safe.

WRITE THIS DOWN

You need this key to wipe the node. Change it any time in the web UI (System → Settings → Danger zone).
Lost it? Flash again with Erase device checked, then press Show my erase key for a new one.

3. Configure Device (optional)

Connect to the node over USB serial. The flasher resets the node, sends your settings, and sets its clock.

Leave a field blank to keep the node's current value. The flasher sends the filled fields when you select Connect & Configure.

Relaxed: 300 ms dwell, -80 dBm. Balanced: 160 ms, -95 dBm. Aggressive: 110 ms, -100 dBm. Custom uses the four scan timings below, and needs all four filled in.

Erase key generated on this node. Write it down. Wipes over mesh and in the web UI need it. Change it in the web UI, or with CONFIG_ERASE_PSK:<new>:<this key>.

To wipe a node over mesh, send ERASE_REQUEST. Paste the token from its ERASE_TOKEN: reply and your erase key here, then send the answer with ERASE_FORCE:, ERASE_CANCEL:, AUTOERASE_ENABLE:, AUTOERASE_DISABLE: or FACTORY_RESET:. Your key stays in this page and is never sent anywhere.
